Local designers reinventing the bowtie -

Bruce Franklin (left), 22, and Christopher Bennett, 23, have designed almost a dozen styles of unapologetically over-the-top bow ties as the inaugural line for their label, Robot & Brucling. Lately, bow ties have increasingly been the accessory of choice among hipsters and celebs, who for years have eschewed them at formal events like the Oscars, the Tonys, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Ball.

Better Late than Never: Hip Hop Honors Dirty South

So I finally got around to watching the Hip Hop Honors on DVR and of course I must add my 2 cents.

Now at these award/honor shows you can't please everyone, there is always something missing, something that could have been taken out, something that was done completely wrong, etc.

Overall the Hip Hop Honors were entertaining and that's the ultimate goal right?

The representatives for the Dirty South...

As a music fan I must say that there were key people left out that helped put the South on the Map...

First things first:
This should have been a non-negotiable! ATL with no Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik???  If a performer is not dead, locked up, or the ones being paid tribute to then they should be performing their own song!

I like that they paid tribute the Dungeon Family and Organized Noize but you can't do the Dungeon Family without the WHOLE Dungeon Family and Attic Crew actually performing! Here's a playlist for you to enjoy a couple of hits...

It took me a long time to get on board with the whole Cash Money/Big Tymers/Hot Boyz wagon but once I did I knew they were something! They took over radio play in the south.  Not even a mention? Is that because Weezy is locked up? Why couldn't they pay tribute anyway? Da Brat is locked up but So So Def still got some love!

A Little Cash Money...

8 Ball MJG, Scarface (protested the show) and 3-6 Mafia...uh hello??

Some other missing pieces that would have made things a little better but not the end of the world...

JT Money
Kriss Kross at least one of them
69 Boyz
MAGOO-Timabaland with no Magoo :(  Coulda used a Luv 2 Luv You

This list can go on forever but it's TV there's a time limit and it's good to have the audience wanting more...

Music is all around us and just the fact that we have shows like this to pay homage to music in general is music to my ears...
